Concentrated all his efforts as Hackney’s
Promoter / Manager from then on until the demise of the Hawks
in 1983. Len was a great showman on the centre green, always encouraging
the Waterden Road faithful to get behind their team.
He was once banned by the controlling authorities
from ‘taking any part in a speedway meeting’ during
the 1976 season, so he took to the terraces with his hat, scarf
and clipboard to support his beloved Hackney Hawks.
Also promoted at Hackney’s sister track
Rye House, where he has recently returned to own Rye House after
his interest in Speedway was rekindled.
